Mesh Research Group
The Mesh Research Group (MRG) is an interdisciplinary collective of scholars, designers, technologists, artists, and others interested in all manner of mesh network technologies as they are deployed across many domains of activity around the world.
We are presently in the process of pursuing a two-part project consisting of:
-
Database: An open access, crowd-sourced database comprising an encyclopedic collection of international mesh network activity that will include entries for community networks, routers, protocols, scholarly research, art projects, key figures past and present, and other categories.
-
Interface: An interactive, web-based, digital humanities application that will draw from the above compendium to create a novel visualization tool rendering select mesh projects and technologies for the purposes of ongoing scholarship and pedagogy in network studies, media studies, infrastructure studies, science and technology studies (STS), critical computer science, and related fields.
